Moses's Story

Sweet Moses was just a newborn when he was torn away from his mother at a dairy farm. When I first saw this innocent baby, he was chained to a pole just laying there helpless on the concrete floor—no straw, no warmth—with tears pouring down his face. I managed to negotiate for his surrender and brought him to safety at Asha’s, but my heart broke all over again because the farm wouldn't part with his mother. Moses didn’t stop crying though. It was like he was saying to me, “Where’s my mom? I don’t know any of you. I just want my mother.” It was the saddest thing I’ve ever experienced. But then, Sindy stepped in. She’s a mother cow here at the sanctuary, and she took him under her wing. She started nurturing Moses, giving him a mother's love he was starving for. Moses bonded with Sindy, and the crying stopped. Today, those two are absolutely inseparable. You won't see one without the other. Every once in a while, I’ll still see a tear in his eye, and I know he’s remembering his birth mother. But Moses isn't alone anymore, and he never will be at Asha's.
