Joaquin

Joaquin’s journey to the sanctuary began following a difficult family loss. His original owner had planned to sell Joaquin and his brother, Phoenix, to the market—a move that would have led to their certain slaughter. After the owner’s untimely passing, his family faced the decision of whether to send the brothers to market immediately. In the midst of her grief, the farmer’s daughter looked at the brothers and saw her father in their eyes. She chose compassion over profit, facilitating their rescue to Asha’s instead. Now safe in the care of Asha's, Joaquin lives a life free from the threat of harm or the separation from his family. He has transitioned from being viewed as a commodity to being recognized as an individual with a gentle, affectionate spirit. Joaquin is often seen interacting quietly with the herd, showing a level of trust and emotional depth that many people don't realize farm animals possess. Joaquin’s presence at the sanctuary serves as a practical example of how choosing kindness can change a life. His story highlights the importance of treating all creatures with dignity and respect, proving that every animal deserves a life defined by peace and care.
